Hosokawa E-Spart Analyzer EST-3
The Hosokawa E-Spart Analyzer is a unique instrument that simultaneously measures the aerodynamic diameter, electrostatic charge distributions, and electrical mobility of particles suspended in air. The E-Spart Analyzer utilizes state of the art Laser Doppler Velocimetry to ascertain how the sampled particles behave when excited both acoustically and electrically. It processes this information to determine each particle’s size and charge characteristics. The E-Spart then provides the operator through its auxiliary computer system with a complete particle size and particle charge distribution, in both tabular and graphical form. With the E-Spart, one can define precisely the size and charge distribution of magnetic base powders.
The E-Spart system consists of the feeding, measuring and signal processing sections. The measuring chamber has the electrodes which generate 1 kHz acoustic excitation. Air current with sample particles scattered in its passes between the electrodes. While acoustic excitation oscillates the air and the particles downward, inertial force delays large particles from the excitation. E-Spart detects the phase delay and drift of the particles with a laser dopler method for measuring their size and charge distributions.
