Operating Principle

Whether the product is a wet powder or a slurry, specially designed feeders transfer the product into the dispersion section of the dryer. A high speed rotor disperses the product in the drying zone. An induced hot gas stream as high as 600 °C provides the energy for instantaneous evaporation of the moisture within the feed material. Evaporation capacity of the largest unit is over 6000 kg/hr. Dried particles enter the classifying zone at the top of the dryer and fine de-agglomerated particles leave the dryer outlet to be collected down stream. Coarse particles are rejected by the classifier and are returned to the dispersion zone for further processing.

General Information about Performance

The Drymeister incorporates several unique design features that yield a dramatic improvement in its performance over other types of flash dryer designs. One notable difference in this dryer, is its improved dispersion design characteristics. This feature allows even sticky and cohesive materials to be processed. Because this machine has a high speed impact/dispersion rotor and an internal classifier, both particle size and Product moisture content can easily be controlled. Due to the high heat transfer co-efficient capability of this dryer, the unit itself can be relatively compact in design, with a minimal amount of floor space required for installation.

Several rotor and classifier wheel designs are available to achieve different degrees of dispersion and particle size control depending upon the requirements of the drying application. Component options allow for:

  • Gentle Dispersion
  • High intensity dispersion for high solids loading
  • De-agglomeration and size reduction
  • Sterilization drying with superheated steam
  • High intensity dispersion for liquid suspensions and viscous liquids

The Drymeister can be applied to dry a wide range of materials including:

  • Wet powders with agglomerates
  • Filter cakes
  • Slurries
  • Thixotropic materials
  • Nanoparticle suspensions
