Hosokawa - Drying Technologies

By combining the unique conical shape and gentle agitator of the Vrieco-Nauta design with a vessel jack, the Vrieco-Nauta mixer can also be incorporated into a vacuum dryer. Drying within the chemical process industries require the removal of moisture from wet materials through evaporation by heat. Hosokawa Micron Powder Systems provides vacuum drying systems suitable for drying pastes, slurries, brittle powders and granules.

System features include high heat transfer coefficients up to 200 kcal/m2/hr °C, low energy consumption, stable vacuum conditions, easy product discharge, easy cleaning and no dust emissions. Dryer sizes range from 5 liters to 10,000 liters with a variety of materials of construction and finishes. For the chemical industry, Hosokawa drying systems are ideal for aluminum oxide, metal hydroxides (zirconium, titanium, aluminum), ionic resins, and many other organic and inorganic chemicals. Systems design also incorporate features that address temperature sensitive materials, explosive, solvent recovery, and GMP guidelines.

By combining several operations such as flash drying, de-agglomeration and surface coating into one operation, a Mikro-LGM long gap mill eliminates the need for multiple material handling systems which subsequently increases process efficiencies. The dried powders often do not require any further size reduction. Both slurries and wet cake can be handled.

Flash dryers are ideal drying solutions for many chemical processing applications because they are extremely efficient in removing moisture with a very short residence time. One common side effect of drying product is re-agglomeration. Our Drymeister - DMR has an internal dynamic rotor assembly that provides excellent dispersion of solids. Coupled with an internal forced vortex classifier, the end product remains dry and free of agglomerates, while yielding high evaporation rates. Our space saving design and dust free continuous operation are applied to a broad range of feed materials including: slurries; pastes; sticky materials, gels, filter cakes and other mixtures. The design also permits processing of sticky and heat sensitive materials.
